I found the APplication Support and the rewire map inside the propeller map. But there were no Melodyne files, I guess they were trashed when I threw away Melodyne earlier. Now there was just a rewire bundle in the propeller map. I threw it away, but it stilldont work, it says like this still when I trying to get into Logic:

Hello Joel, many thanks for Your article. I installed a lite version of melodyne inc in Pro-Tools ignition pack after I had installed Logic 8 and Pro-Tools on my Leopard iMac. After that I cant open Logic, Pro-Tools or Garageband.
I suspected it had something to do with melodyne, and trashed the whole map. But still I cant open any of the programs, and I can't find: /Library/Application Support/Propellerhead Software/ReWire
That You mention in the article. Is this gone already because that I trashed melodyne? But why can't I open Logic then?
If You could lend me a helping hand I would appreciate it alot. I'm getting really frustrated.
Regards
-Alex

This think with not enough ideas may happen to anyone, you must have found yourself staring to a blank paper without knowing what to write there or with the guitar in your hand playing something and at the same time feeling you NEED something new but it didn't come to you

Hey that is an excellent article. I'm not a big podcaster yet, but I am moving that way. I added my podcast to podcast directory podseek.net. It covers a lot of categories. check them out. I don't get a lot, but I do get some traffic from them.

As a musician and creator of several DVD's on Guitar Lessons, I've also had to learn the marketing of them. After several years doing this, I have people from all over the globe now learning my techniques. This would never be possible without Digital Technology. You can find me at: http://www.guitar5day.com. I also have a blog and a forum for musicians. It's all about networking.

@Ed:Oh, you don't want to be a marketer. You want to be a marketeer. There's a difference. Good work on producing your own EP and getting it out there.

Understanding marketing is important, but marketing requires some pretty specialized skills, but above all it requires the ability to communicate, and you obviously already have that ability.

I'm finding just like you've written about to be very true. I recently for the first time released my own EP and managed to get it into the big stores like Amazon and Napster. I can sell in any country in the world which I wouldn't of been able to do without The Digital Revolution and this was unthinkable some years ago without a record label, distributors etc. But since doing this I've realised I've got to market my music and I'm finding that tough. I'm a musician not a marketer. Looks like musicians are going to have to learn a lot more than music.

Comment on Themed Collections - choosing thematic subjects by NDK Creative Artist

There's a great reference on http:// http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concept_album/ at Wikipedia.

Got some good history with some examples of concept albums since the Sixties. It's definitely been a successful format and it seems Smashing Pumpkins did a great job of packaging the theme across several media, and according to the article NIN have also done this and used the concept successfully to build buzz and excitement, including the theme as part of the marketing mix.

It makes sense to do this economically as it will keep costs down, and I think it provides focus for passion also, adding value to the whole mix that you just don't get with a lightweight look at any particular theme through the lens of one or two songs--which doesn't really give one the opportunity to explore more than one viewpoint.

I also think that when a band is addressing social, political, ecological and other civilized issues that it has the potential to really get people thinking, about the state of our culture and civilization, while entertaining them at the same time, and when this is important to songwriters and bands, then the results can be pretty amazing.

I'd only recommend that one have sincere passion for the issues of the theme, and don't develop thematic material if your heart isn't really in it, and it's more of a 'follow-the-leader' thing.

The great thing about themed material is also that there is so much going on in the world that there are plenty of situations to draw upon, and so many are unaddressed, untouched, virgin subjects crying out for a voice to articulate them.

Of course there are liabilities to this too. One could end up becoming too focussed, and then need to open to criticism as just being political, or social, and therefore lose the element of good musicianship, and being entertaining. And music must above all stir the soul and provide entertainment on a personal level too.

Lots of issues here and a meaty subject to consider.

But it seems to me that when songwriters and bands have a social justice component and the musicianship and talent to go with it, that the result could be extremely powerful, and at a time that people are looking for solutions to the massive number of issues which confront mankind and the entire future of the race and even Life on the planet...that this would be a cool way not to waste the attention great musicians and songwriters can sincerely address and gain some traction on.

Carefully considered, the concept of concept and thematic albums is pretty cool.

38% response for free international promotion is pretty good. Probably not very repeateable, as its more of a one-shot gimmick that has a limited shelf-life before the media stop picking up on it.

It occurs to me we should ask: What do you do for an encore? (i.e. when the next album is ready to go)

When you've got a great fanbase it's easy. When you've worked with the traditional labels and studios (the big 6 soon to be 5) it's an easier road as you're already in their distribution network and usig that have reached a wider audience.

It's building an audience from scratch that is the problem we have to resolve. And that model doesn't appear to be there yet. There have been a few exceptional stories that have lent hope and inspired considerable creative marketing effort. But these are exceptions not the rule. One still has to pull a stunt to get larger attention and hit the radar of the fans.

Definitely like to know more about how you decide on and create material on a theme.

What are some of the things you need to consider?

How do you get the band to buy in thos this idea of the concept album?

What are some of the liabilities of concepts and themes, and how do you go about offsetting those? What are the pros?

Yes - intermittently, Leopard will 'lose' the onboard sound on my iBook, and I can't get my m-audio fw410 working AT ALL.

Pissed.
